String Theory

and Other Selected Poems

by Larry J. Eriksson

String Theory and Other Selected Poems includes some of my own favorites from the poems I have written. About half of these poems are from my chapbook Selected Poems (2nd ed.) and the remainder are from other chapbooks as well as some not previously published.

The book includes:

Poems on sound and light such as "String Theory," "Light Music," and "The End of Time";

Poems on living such as "The Tool Shop," "Nighttime in the Menominee River Valley," "Bridging the Gap," "Family Reunion," "Moonlight on the Goldenrod," and "Marital Alchemy";

Poems on the environment such as "Godparent to a Butterfly" and "Living With Richard Parker";

Poems on reading such as "Special Collections in the Library Annex" and "Rejection Letter Haiku";

Poems on technology such as "The Sorcerer's Broomsticks" and "Ode to Science Past";

Humorous poems such as "Parts Inspector" and "Why I Don’t Play Golf Anymore?";

Political poems including "Feeding the Birds," "On Wisconsin?", "The Captain of Our Ship," "The Wars Never Fought," and "Marching Strings";

Poems about the passage of time such as "A Violin’s Life," "The Bus Stop," "Night Ride," "The Last Sounds of Summer," and "Canine Therapy."

Larry J. Eriksson is a Wisconsin poet active in the Dickinson Poetry Series at the UU Fellowship of Door County and a member of the Wisconsin Fellowship of Poets. He sees the world as filled with the music of poetry – a cosmic mystery driven by rhythms, rhymes, and riddles. His poems preserve memories, clarify thoughts, express concerns, explore feelings, or simply have fun with language. They have appeared in numerous publications and are available at www.quartersectionpress.com.
